PCL to XPS - Portable Document Conversion Software

XPS is Microsoft's new XML Paper Specification (XPS) format, which is positioned to compete with Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF). Upcoming versions of MS Windows and Office will offer options for directly outputting XPS ePaper documents. All documents will be able to print to XPS without an intermediary file converter.

XPS is a document storage and viewing format that uses Extensible Markup Language (XML) and other industry standards to create a cross-platform document format. Because XPS is based on XML, it holds several advantages over PDF.

XPS Benefits Over PDF

  • Compatibility with other technologies, like ZIP and digital rights management.
  • Software and hardware independent.
  • Seamless integration of XPS documents into workflow applications.
